MUMBAI: If the Kochi IPL team throws in the towel because of internal differences, there will not be an immediate re-tender and IPL 4 will be played between nine teams.
Contrary to speculation, Rajasthan Royals may not suffer the same fate. Royals co-owner Manoj Badale met Manohar in Nagpur last week and told the board president that the franchise is willing to adhere to all BCCI requests and come out in the open with regards to all the board's queries.
"Royals are going to be part of IPL. They have made an earnest request to the board, saying that they want to assist in whichever way they can to be more transparent," the official said.
Badale and other Rajasthan Royals officials remained unavailable for comment. Meanwhile, Kings XI Punjab, who have already decided to sell the franchise, are waiting for the BCCI's go-ahead.
Sunday's GC meeting could have something in store for them too, with BCCI having no serious issues in allowing them to go ahead with the sale except for the required permissions from investigating authorities like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Income Tax.
The board has also decided to hold the player auctions in the last week of November.
