Chennai Super Kings' bowler Laxmipati Balaji is ready with his plans to topple batsman over in the Airtel CL T20.
The medium pacer is quiet aware of the conditions that he would find in the Rainbow nation and has carved out strategies accordingly.
“In South Africa, the batsmen are always set to play on the back foot and try to get the boundary through the ‘cut’ [shot] which is the easiest thing on the pitches there. So if I bowl to length and make the batsmen go for [straight] drives, it is going to be a difficult proposition for them. Balaji told the official website of Chennai Super Kings.
Balaji was the second highest wicket taker for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2009(which was held in South Africa), scalping 12 wickets, one behind Muralitharan, who had 13.
With some help from the foreign players in the squad, Balaji is raring to have a crack at some of the international stars of the tournament.
“Getting to know their weaknesses and strengths is not an issue. For example, to get details of an Australian side in the fray, we have Matthew Hayden and [Doug] Bollinger to provide information and likewise Albie Morkel would be sought to give the necessary details on African teams,”
He believes with such preparations, Chennai Super Kings have a good chance at the ACL T20.
